Ceremonies & Shows
Opening ceremonies, award nights and shows in the UAE and Saudi Arabia
A ceremony has one chance to run. The audience is seated, the cameras are often live and every cue depends on the one before it. Brand X directs opening ceremonies, award nights and staged shows from the first concept sketch to the final cue, with creative direction, technical production and show calling under one team, so the evening runs to script.

What the work covers
Every ceremony starts with the running order. We write it early and keep it as the single reference for the creative, technical and hospitality teams. Around it we design the stage and set, programme lighting, sound and video, cast and rehearse performers, and plan protocol for VIP arrivals and seating. If the ceremony is filmed or streamed, the camera plan is part of the design from the start.
Rehearsals
Technical rehearsals run in the venue with the full crew, followed by a dress rehearsal against the final script. This is where timings are proven: walk-ons, award presentations, scene changes and the gaps between them.
How the show runs on the night
A show caller runs every lighting, sound, video and stage cue from a single script, in contact with stage management, the broadcast team and the protocol lead. A change to the order, a late arrival or a long speech is handled from the same position, so the audience only sees the show.
Questions
How far ahead should we start planning a ceremony?
It depends on the scale of the show, venue availability, how much scenery has to be built, and how many rehearsal days the venue can give. Protocol requirements for senior guests can also shape the schedule. Send us the date, the venue and the audience, and we will set out what needs to happen when, and where the schedule is tight.
Can you work with our venue’s in-house technical team?
Yes. Many hotels and venues have in-house technical suppliers or preferred contractors. We review their equipment and crew against the show design, use what fits and bring in the rest. The combined team then works from one technical schedule and one show script, with a single show caller on the night.
Can you handle protocol for VIP guests?
Yes. Protocol is planned with the show, not separately. That covers arrival routes, holding rooms, seating plans, speaking order and the timing of any presentations or awards. We work with the client’s protocol office or the guest’s own team to agree each detail before rehearsals, and brief hosts and security on the final plan.
Can the ceremony be broadcast or live streamed?
Yes. If the event is filmed, streamed or broadcast, camera positions, lighting for camera and the timing of each segment are planned with the broadcast team during design. On the night, the show caller works alongside the broadcast director so the audience in the room and the audience on screen see the same show.
What affects the cost of a ceremony or show?
The main factors are the venue, the size of the stage and set, the technical specification, the number of performers and rehearsal days, and whether the event is broadcast. Custom-built scenery and special effects cost more than hired stock. Send us the date, venue and audience, and we will return an outline budget with options.
